Abstract

A family is a community of people who are related to each other through associationsestablished by blood or marriage. The phenomenon of family/kinship constitutes a dimensionof the context, which means the atmosphere/environment of formation for folk poetry. It hasbeen pointed out by the researchers that there are several basic influences in the formation ofthe "poet-minstrel tradition", which is a culture-art-literature tradition formed by folk poetsand extending beyond millennia. One of them is the Alevi culture. The Alevi culture, whichhas a rich and deep-rooted tradition as a part and colour of Turkish literature, has trained manypoets. Kinship, which is a general attitude and context element in minstrel poetry, is also inquestion for Alevi minstrels. It can be said that the Alevi folk poets of the Kahramanmaraşregion, which constitutes the framework of the study, constitute such a large group that theycan form a voluminous anthology. With this study, 32 Alevi families and 105 minstrels/poetsbelonging to these families were identified in the Maraş region. In the study, the status ofthe related minstrels on a district-village basis, the chronological position of the people, theirkinship status and pseudonyms were expressed and the results were evaluated. Keywords: Minstrel, Alevi, Kinship, Context, Kahramanmaraş.
